Working Out During the Pandemic

We’re over a year into this pandemic and if you’re anything like me, you feel like you’ve been in and out of shape at least 3 times already. Just know you are definitely not alone. Many of us have struggled with our fitness over the past year. Don’t put yourself down; this is the nature of life. Your journey is never a steady incline. It’s full of hills, valleys and plateaus. Yes, you’ve struggled, but tomorrow is a new day, with new opportunities. Here are a couple things I do to get back into the swing of things when my fitness meter is running low:

Start with a walk. Whether you’re an avid runner or someone who prefers to take things slowly, starting with a simple walk is always a great way to get the motor going again.
Create a workout consisting of your favorite exercises. We all admittedly have those exercises that we despise(for me it’s lunges), so don’t do them! If you’re in a fitness funk, create a workout that’s made up of the exercises you love to do.

Build a workout playlist. Music gets the blood flowing and the body moving. Curate a playlist of your favorite songs that will get you up and active.
Do something out of the norm. If you’re burnt out from bodyweight exercises or running all the time, try a dance workout, joining a recreational sports team, or seeking other ways to integrate fitness into your everyday life.
Remember, doing a little bit of something is far greater than doing nothing at all, sis. If you can drop and do 10 push ups everyday, that’s a start! Meet yourself where you are at and build from there. Most importantly, know that you are not alone in this fitness journey!
